Apr2022 Finance update - Monthly Dividend/Interest received $5.8k

Another brutal sell down for global stock market toward the end of April . My portfolio gain including dividend was cut by $26k compared to March and this has reduced my YTD Investment gain to a meagerly 0.31 % and -1.8% if excluding dividend. It has been a relief that the portfolio did not sink to negative territory with the dividend received.

April Dividend/interest received is about SGD $5.8K and pushed my YTD Dividend/Interest income received to $22641. It is great to receive significant dividend income amidst a stock market turmoil.  My liquid networth YTD growth has also decreased by 0.66%. in April as a result of my investment portfolio decline.

In April, I continue increasing my stakes in a few HKSE counters and they are mainly second string HKSE dividend stocks added last month. I increased my stakes in NWS holding(659.hk) , Cosco shipping (517.hk), Pacific textile (1382.hk),HKBN (1310.hk) and BABA. On other overseas market, I also bought RIO, LGEN from LSE and JEPI in my US IRA with dividend received in that account.

For SGX local market, I added MIT, EliteC and Prime Reit.

On the sale side, I sold off about 18k USD of my company RSU and cut some loss on 3067.hk and 1313.hk to deploy on other counters. Another of my USD bond counter was called as well and release another 10K USD cash.

The rebalancing of my portfolio has boost my annual dividend income to around 80K in 2022.

Mar 2022 Finance update - Monthly Dividend/Interest received $6k ; Q1 Total $16.8k

What a roller coaster ride for March Stock market especially with the HKSE/China market. At one point of time, my HKSE portfolio YTD performance was closed to -10% around mid March even though my portfolio is mainly holding dividend counters. By end of March, it recovered to positive. Overall, my YTD Investment gain is 1.5%  and 2.7% with dividend added in. It has been a relief that the portfolio did not sink to negative territory.

March Dividend/interest received is about SGD $6K and pushed my  Q1 2022 or YTD Dividend/Interest income received to $16831. It is great to receive significant dividend income amidst a stock market turmoil.  My liquid networth YTD growth has also increased by 2.73%.

In March, I continue adding a few HKSE counters and they are mainly second string HKSE dividend stocks. This is a deviation from my usual accumulating of just the blue chip big bank , Telco ,  O&G  and conglomerate counters which are already heavy in my portfolio weighting. I added NWS holding(659.hk) , Cosco shipping (517.hk), Pacific textile (1382.hk),   Aeon Credit (900.hk) and HKBN (1310.hk).  These stocks are selected for high yield and have 5 years track record of maintaining dividend payout.

There is no action on SGX as STI and Reit valuation has gone up and I will wait for opportunity to buy back when there is a pullback.

On the overseas market, I sold off about 12k USD of my company RSU and cut loss on China Tower 788.hk to deploy on other counters

The rebalancing of my portfolio will boost my annual dividend income to more than 80K in 2022.

Feb 2022 Finance update - Monthly Dividend/Interest received $5.6k

February Dividend/interest received is about SGD $5.66k.

YTD Investment gain/loss: 1.16%
YTD Networth growth: 1.84%
YTD Dividend/Interest received $10,747

February was a tough month with the Ukraine war starting on the last week resulting in 13k of gain in my portfolio being wiped off in 1 week.  Ytd Investment gain is dragged down and will probably go to negative in March. However, my ytd net worth growth has increased due to salary and bonus being credited in month of February. This has increased my war crest significantly for March deployment.

In February , I did quite a few trade to rebalance my portfolio. On the SGX front, I sold off 22k SGD of Cromwell Reit just before the war started to reduce my exposure in Europe. About 18.86k deployed into MIT, FCT , CLCT and Areit-I in the last week of Feb. I have another $3k leftover for increasing my stake into more SGX Reit.

On the overseas market, I sold off about 19.7k USD of my company RSU and deployed 20K into more dividend stocks  on US market ,namely LGGNY, IMMBY, EPD and JEPI. My company stock does not pay dividend so switching into more dividend stocks in my portfolio will help to sit through the market crisis due to Ukraine war in the coming month

I have also added about 8.8k USD on BABA after analyzing the business is still growing despite many headwinds it is facing. I will own a small stake of 100 BABA shares and this will be a long term investment to have an ecommerce counter in my portfolio. Even though, Alibaba is not a dividend stock but its management willingness to buy back share due to perceived undervaluation is another catalyst I am buying Alibaba.

The rebalancing of my portfolio will boost my annual dividend income close to 77.3K in 2022.

Jan 2022 Finance update - Monthly Dividend/Interest received $5k

January Dividend/interest received is about SGD $5k.

YTD Investment gain/loss: 2.5%
YTD Networth growth: 0.43%

January Investment gain is flat due to drag down by SGX Reits and networth growth mainly from salary saved and  dividend/interest received. Not a bad outcome as January markets was really turbulent with threat of rising interest rate.

Another bond was called and released USD12.5K of cash flow. I converted them to HKD and have increased my investment in a few HKSE dividend stocks in January with 10K USD on 8.hk, 5k USD on 1313.hk and 6.2k USD on 2386.hk. All three HKSE dividend stocks have 8% or more yield. I have also invested 1k CAD on ZWC.TO which is a Canadian bank ETF with call option.

On the SGX side, I have added about 9.5k SGD Ascendas I-Trust. With SGX Reits down to 52 weeks low, I will start increasing my stakes in the coming months.

The new investment will boost my annual dividend income close to 76K in 2022.

Dividends received in Jan2022 from Foreign Investment (Stocks): USD $2402

Interest received in Jan2022 from Foreign Investment (bonds): USD $1011

Dec 2021 Finance update - Monthly Dividend/Interest received $4.9k and Annual Total $74.3K

December Dividend/interest received is about SGD $4.9k and this brings my 2021 annual dividend/interest income to $74.3K. Total 2021 return is $140K. 2021 investment income received increased by 26% compared to 2020 and it was the highest since I took up dividend investment from 2016. From my annual Dividend/Interest Income chart in the last 10 years,  it can be seen that my saving return was languishing at low 10k annually prior to 2016.  My current investment portfolio yield is around 6%.

I have been increasing my investment (about 60k) in dividend stocks throughout Oct to Dec during the market downturn, I am projecting my investment income to hit 77k in 2022. As I still have significant cash holding and cash flow from my dividend, I will be looking for more opportunities in 2022 to add more dividend stocks to boost my investment income up to 80k .

2021 investment portfolio total return including dividend received is around 8.9% . This is more or less within my expectation as my investment strategy is to get stable passive income after retirement. While my US bond and LSE portfolios are doing ok in 2021, my investment overall performance was still dragged down by HKSE counters which contribute 22% of my portfolio. Another drag was a complete write off of EHT from my SGX portfolio after it declared bankrupt this year with unitholders equity completely wiped off.  Since the 2020 covid crisis hit my portfolio hard, I have since taken drastic steps to reduce high risk low quality stocks from my portfolio by selling off almost 500k in 2020 and replacing them with the same amount of more stable index dividend stocks. My current investment portfolio now consist of 75% companies with investment grade credit rating. This action has help me to obtain a more sustainable dividend income and stable capital appreciation in 2021.

Lastly, my liquid net worth (excluding CPF and properties) has increased by 14% in 2021.
