Year 2019 Dec Personal Finance update - Another record year for passive income earned and new high for liquid networth

Time flies and 2019 is almost gone. In the last days of 2019, I am tallying all my financial numbers to review how I am doing. 2019 Passive income from my investment portfolio has hit SGD65807 and my investment portfolio hit record high at 1.12 mil due to the record stock market which also boost my liquid net worth to another new high at 1.58 mil. Dividend/Interest earned has increased at double digit at 25% in 2019. I have 2 more years to plan an early retirement and my target passive income from my investment portfolio should hit around 80K. I also have another overseas property which potentially can fetch about USD 20k rental per annum. This means I should be able to achieve my target 100K retirement income in 2 years time.

In Dec, I continue to increase my stakes in existing overseas counters BPY(+200 shares). BPY is my largest holding which is a reit run by one of the largest asset management company Brookfield Asset Management (BAM). I feel that the price has over corrected in Dec due to US investor harvesting tax loss and a negative WSJ article. At 7.1% dividend , EV >80 billion, P/B=0.62 and market cap of 15 billion , I find it a better buy than our local SGX reits which have been mostly overpriced.

As for local SGX counter, I bought 70k Asian Pay TV trust as a new position. At a 7% dividend yield and payout ratio of 30%, I feel it is relatively safe counter to earn some passive income. With the 2 purchases in Dec, I am projecting that my passive income will hit 71.5 k in 2020.

    1. I have 2 different companies for Prudential listed in my portfolio. Prudential Finance is US based insurance company and Prudential PLC is UK based company which has large operation in Spore as well. The Prudential Finance I owned is ETD or baby bond and Prudential PLC is a preferred share (something similar to Perp in Spore) .. You don't need 200K to buy.. Their par values are $25 and you can buy any unit. You can read my article on US corporate bond or ETD to have a better understanding https://globalincome50.blogspot.com/2019/05/us-exchange-traded-debt-etd-aka-baby.html

    1. Yes , you need to pay 30% WHT for US stocks.. However, My holdings are mainly bonds ,non-US domiciled preferred shares and MLP which have 0% WHT. My main stock holding are BPY is Canadian company domiciled in Bermuda with 3% WHT and IMBBY is a UK ADR with 0% WHT. I have an existing US IRA account when I was working in the US 15 years ago. I only have about USD50k which hold some US stocks and funds which are tax free due to IRA account.

    1. Actually, I am an old guy who has been sitting on cash for a long times after losing big time in the stock market.. It is only that I found out about fixed income and reit investment from the various bloggers that I start putting my money to work again. I started slow and only pile in more capital as I learnt
